On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) has implemented a pilot project for participatory planning and sustainable construction projects together with us and the Ministry of Energy of Punjab Province in Pakistan. Particular emphasis is hereby placed on the participation of local actors: A group of 40 engineers, architects and consultants from Germany as well as GIZ staff, government and provincial representatives, local planners and later users formed a project group. Over a period of eight months, the project group then developed an ecological, economical and socially sustainable building concept for the Energy Resource Center in Lahore. In addition to the use of local renewable energy sources and regional building materials for the premises, effective knowledge transfer should above all enable Pakistani participants to be able to build sustainably in the long term.
A detailed report on the project can be found in greenBUILDING.
